In 2017, 6 candidates were contesting for Thasra assembly constituency seat. Thasra was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Kantibhai Shabhaibhai Parmar winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramsinh Parmar by a margin of just 7,028 votes.
96.9% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Indian National Congress's Kantibhai Shabhaibhai Parmar got a total of 87,567 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramsinh Parmar got 80,539 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Bipinkumar (ADVOCATE) grabbed 1,783 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 50.5%, 46.4% and 1.0% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Parmar Ramsinh Prabhatsinh beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Pratikshaben Tinubhai Parmar by 5,500 votes.
